In the first session of Monique Burr Training, we will cover the statistics in child safety and abuse. We will gain understanding of the 4 kinds of abuse children can experience as well as the 5 safety rules that children can implement with all of these types of abuse to keep themselves safe in unsafe situations. We will also go over safe adults and how they are fundamental in the lives of children.
In the second session of the Monique Burr Training, we will cover bullying, both in person as well as cyberbullying. We will go over the ways that bullying can be prevented and how we can teach children to choose kindness over bullying. We will also gain a greater understanding for internet safety and digital dangers among young children. We will also discuss excessive screen time and how it negatively effects preschool and school age children in their developmental years.
In the third session of Monique Burr Training, we will cover mental health for children, topics such as how to make healthy choices for their bodies and their minds. We will discuss the different substances that may not be healthy for them such as alcohol, drugs, prescription drugs, etc. How to say no to those things and how to get away and stay away from situations involving those things and most importantly how to get help from a safe and trusted adult of they are ever in a situation involvi
Learn to recognize other forms of child abuse and neglect, and how to respond as a mandated reporter. Mandated reporter laws are different in each state, for example, being a mandated reporter in Texas may be different than being a mandated reporter in California. Teaching definitions and indicators of sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect, Darkness to Light’s mandated reporter training also teaches you about the legal obligations as a mandated reporter defined by your state
You’ll meet survivors who lived through child sexual abuse, experienced its immediate and long-term effects, and ultimately were able to find healing. You’ll meet experts who work with children and families, and confront abuse on a daily basis. Many of these survivors and experts are also parents themselves.
This informational course is specific to North Carolinas mandated reporting laws and does contain some graphic images of specific forms of abuse.
